RESUMEN Se realizó un estudio descriptivo y de corte transversal en 40 pacientes hipertensos mayores de 15 años de edad, de ambos sexos, pertenecientes al consultorio médico 20-32 del Policlínico Universitario «Martha Abreu de Estévez», del municipio Santa Clara, provincia Villa Clara. El objetivo de la investigación fue determinar el estado de salud bucal de estos pacientes.
Se investigaron las siguientes variables:
edad, sexo, afecciones bucodentales, índice COP e índice periodontal de Russell con la forma del examen según el Programa de Detección del Cáncer Bucal, y las necesidades de tratamiento estomatológico.Predominaron:
el sexo femenino (con una buena higiene bucal), las edades de más de 60 años, la enfermedad periodontal en el sexo masculino, y la necesidad de tratamiento protésico.
ABSTRACT A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in 40 hypertensive patients over 15 years of age, of both genders, belonging to the 20-32 doctor's office at "Martha Abreu de Estévez" University Polyclinic, Santa Clara municipality, Villa Clara province. The objective of the research was to determine oral health status of these patients. Age, gender, oral diseases, COP index and Russell's periodontal index with the form of the Oral Cancer Detection Program examination, as well as needs for dental treatment were the investigated variables. Female gender (with good oral hygiene), ages of more than 60 years, periodontal disease in male gender, and need for prosthetic treatment predominated.
