"Gay Cure" and "Religious Conversion Therapies": historical analytical incursion into the discursive paths of psi sciences

No Brasil dos séculos XIX e XX, o discurso das ciências psi referente a gênero e sexualidade introduziram na sociedade a ideia de que as expressões, identidades de gêneros e orientações sexuais divergentes da cis-heteronormatividade seriam passíveis de tranformação e cura. Na atualidade, é possível observar este discurso no fenômeno da "cura gay" e das "terapias de conversão religiosa" em crescente visibilidade no país. O objetivo deste artigo é descrever os intinerários realizados pelo discurso patologizante das ciências psi em uma incursão analítica histórica, assim como a apropriação e uso de parte deste por políticos e religiosos cristãos. Através das contribuições da Análise do Discurso Foucaltiana, buscamos tornar visíveis a materialidade e as relações saber-poder circunscritas em torno do fenômeno da "cura gay" e "terapias de conversão religiosa", demarcando que interessa à Psicologia a compreensão das consequências contemporâneas de um discurso patologizante produzido historicamente pelas ciências psi.
In Brazil during the 19th and 20th centuries, the discourse of psi sciences regarding gender and sexuality introduced into society the idea that expressions of gender identities and sexual orientations divergent from cis-heteronormativity would be subject to transformation and healing. Nowadays, it is possible to observe this discourse in the phenomenon of "gay cure" and "religious conversion therapies" with increasing visibility in the country. The objective of this paper is to describe the itineraries carried out by the pathologizing discourse of psi sciences in a historical analytical foray, as well as the appropriation and use of part of it by Christian politicians and religious people. Throught the contributions of Foucaldian Discourse Analysis, we seek to make visible the materiality and knowledge-power relations circumscribed around the phenomenon of "gay cure" and "religious conversion therapies", highlighting that Psychology is interested in understanding the contemporary consequences of a pathologizing discourse historically produced by the psi sciences.
