La úlcera de Mooren es una ulceración progresiva idiopática de la córnea periférica, no infecciosa, que se caracteriza por dolor intenso e inyección cilioconjuntival, que puede llevar a una disminución de la agudeza visual, neovascularización y opacificación corneal. El objetivo fue caracterizar la evolución clínica de la úlcera de Mooren tipo 2. Se efectuó una revisión en la literatura científica sobre esta enfermedad y no se encontraron reportes publicados en Cuba. Se presenta una paciente con diagnóstico de úlcera de Mooren bilateral. Al examen físico se observó infiltrado corneal en periferia que impresionaba inmunológico con adelgazamiento a este nivel y formación de surco. Se indicaron complementarios y se indicó tratamiento tópico y sistémico con esteroides, evolutivamente se observó estabilidad del cuadro, por lo que no se requirió tratamiento quirúrgico(AU)
Mooren's ulcer is an idiopathic, noninfectious, progressive ulceration of the peripheral cornea characterized by severe pain and cilioconjunctival injection, which may lead to decreased visual acuity, neovascularization, and corneal opacification. The objective was to characterize the clinical course of Mooren's ulcer type 2. A review of the scientific literature on this disease was carried out and no reports published in Cuba were found. A patient with a diagnosis of bilateral Mooren's ulcer is presented. Physical examination showed a corneal infiltrate in the periphery that appeared immunologic with thinning at this level and sulcus formation. Complementary and topical and systemic treatment with steroids was indicated. The evolution of the picture was stable and surgical treatment was not required(AU)
