Se presenta el caso clínico de una paciente de 55 años de edad, con antecedente de hipertensión arterial, que no mejoraba con el tratamiento, ingresada en el Servicio de Gastroenterología del Hospital general Docente "Dr. Juan Bruno Zayas Alfonso" de Santiago de Cuba, con el diagnóstico presuntivo de enfermedad diarreica crónica. Al encontrarse sangre oculta en heces fecales se indicó la colonoscopia. Teniendo en cuenta que los valores de la tensión arterial se encontraban alterados se contraindicó la sedación en su forma tradicional, de manera que se empleó la analgesia quirúrgica acupuntural. El proceder se realizó exitosamente y se diagnosticó una colitis de grado II, extendida hacia el ángulo izquierdo del colon
The case report of a 55 years patient is presented, with a history of hypertension that didn't improve with the treatment, admitted in the Gastroenterology Service of "Dr. Juan Bruno Zayas Alfonso" Teaching General Hospital in Santiago de Cuba, with the presumptive diagnosis of chronic diarrheal disease. When hidden blood was found in stools the colonoscopy was indicated. Taking into account that the values of the blood pressure were altered, sedation was contraindicated in its traditional form, so that the acupunctural surgical analgesia was used. The procedure was carried out successfully and a degree II colitis was diagnosed, extended toward the left angle of the colon
