The present investigation evaluated, in an in vitro study, the chemical-mechanical removal of dental caries, using an experimental product (2R2M1) at different concentrations. To verify the degree of removal of infected dentin from each concentration, 4 groups were formed, each group was assigned 10 permanent molar pieces less than 12 hours after being extracted. The pieces were randomly assigned to each group, remaining as follows: Group 1 = 1%, Group 2 = 2%, Group 3 = 3% and Group 4 = Removal of carious dentin with a spoon (control group). The material was applied for 2 minutes, it was stirred with a dull spoon, if necessary a second and even a third time was applied. The degree of removal was evaluated tactilely and visually. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey's test were used as statistical tests; Significant differences were demonstrated between groups 2 and 3 with the control group, showing mean differences above 0.5 in both cases. With the results obtained, it was concluded that the experimental material removes infected dentin and gives better results than with the conventional technique. In addition, the experimental material in concentrations of 2% and 3% is more effective than 1% and than the traditional method of cutting carious dentin with a spoon.
