Within the framework of the Food and Nutritional Security axis of the POR FRUTAS project, PROMEFRUTII included as one of its lines of action the development of educational materials, aimed at different audiences, to promote the consumption of fruits produced in Central America and the Dominican Republic, Therefore, this publication reviews the main fruits of the region. The purpose of this book is to gather information on 20 fruits that are produced and consumed in the region, to publicize their importance in the daily diet and make the most of their seasonal availability and, with it, their health benefits. Likewise, it presents information related to their nutritional value, the benefits they provide for health and recommendations for their selection, preparation and conservation. The purpose of the book is to contribute to the knowledge of the characteristics of fruits to improve consumption practices and thereby improve the diversity of the diet, strengthen food culture, promote good eating habits as part of a healthy lifestyle.
