La observación de la capacidad representacional en la díada madre-niño: una nueva propuesta metodológica

Dentro del panorama de la Psicología del Desarrollo se ha ido estableciendo un área de especialización relacionada con la capacidad de la mente infantil para adquirir o re-construir el significado de las cosas y del mundo que le rodea.

El estudio sobre el proceso ontogenético del significado suele entrañar la especialización en un tipo de metodología determinada:

la observación de la díada madre-hijo en situación de juego compartido. La metodología para la observación de la interacción madre-hijo no es tarea fácil. Abundan los trabajos empíricos y con ellos las distintas categorías de observación de la díada. La propia situación interactiva que proponen los investigadores como escenario para la observación también difiere. Además, y a pesar de que el manejo computacional de los datos de observación es cada vez más preciso y competente, el registro de la observación en sí misma continúa siendo una tarea dificil para los investigadores de este campo. Este trabajo ofrece una revisión del tema al tiempo que muestra una nueva metodología de observación, Representational Capacities Observation Protocol (RCOP) (Sadurní & Pérez Burriel, 2008), que simplifica el proceso, integra las categorías hasta ahora utilizadas y permite la comparación de los datos. Mostramos un ejemplo de aplicación del Protocolo en la observación longitudinal de 4 niños a la edad de 10, 12, 14, 16 Y 18 meses, en situación de juego compartido con sus madres.

In the overview of the Developmental Psychology it has been established an area of specialization related with the capacity of the childhood mind to purchase or re-build the meaning of the things and of the world that surrounds it.

The study on the ontogenetic process ofthe meaning usually involves the specialization in a type of certain methodology:

the observation of the mother-son dyad at a game shared situation. The methodology for the observation of the interaction mother-son is not an easy task. There are plenty of empiric works and with them many categories of observation of the dyad. The own interactive situation that researchers propose as setting for the observation also differs. In addition, and although the handling computational of the observation data is increasingly precise and competent, the record of the observation itself remains a difficult task for researchers in this field.

This study offers a review from the topic at the time that shows a new methodology of observation:

Representational Capacities Observation Protocol (RCOP) (Sadurní & Pérez Burriel, 2008) which simplifies the process, integrates the categories up to now used and allows the comparison of the data. Here is an example of implementation of the Protocol on the longitudinal observation of 4 children at the age of 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 months at a game shared situation with their mothers.
