Objetive. Determine which of the brushing techniques is more efficient to remove biofilm Methods. This epidemiological survey was descriptive, prospective and transversal. The sample consisted of 117 students of 6 to 13 years of age. Dental plaque was revealed with red eosin tablet and registered in O'Leary Indice Hygiene. (4 sites for each tooth). Control score Hygiene was compared with that after the toothbrushing. Results. Horizontal brushing technique was prevalent 75.2%. The amount of time spent in brushing teeth was of 1'5''. It was not significant among the other techniques. Anova p > 0.05 vertical brushing technique was more efficient in removing dental plaque (54.7%) Anova p > 0.05. Brushing techniques showed reduction of plaque (47%). Conclusions. Brushing horizontal technique was prevalent being vertical technique more efficient in removing dental plaque.
Objetivo. Conocer la técnica de cepillado de los niños de la I.E. Andrés Bello y su eficacia para remover el biofilm. Material y método. Estudio epidemiológico, descriptivo, diseño prospectivo de corte transversal. La muestra fue de 117 niños de 6 a 13 años de edad. Se utilizó tabletas reveladoras para determinar la presencia de placa y se evaluó la higiene bucal mediante el Índice de O'Leary, se registró 4 superficies por cada diente. Se comparó el Índice de Higiene Oral basal, con el valor obtenido posterior al cepillado dental habitual.
