La fundación del Hospital del Niño, hoy denominado Instituto Nacional de Salud del Niño, constituye sin duda un hito trascendente en el desarrollo de la pediatría peruana, ya que en aquel establecimiento se sentaron las modernas bases científicas de dicha especialidad, a la par de constituirse como el principal centro formador de pediatras del país. El objetivo de este artículo es dar a conocer, en forma sucinta, los principales hechos que sucedieron en tomo a la fundación del Instituto.
The foundation of the Hospital of the Child, today National Institute of Health of the Child, constitutes undoubtedly a transcendent milestone in the development of the Peruvian Pediatrics, since on the above mentioned establishment there were founded the modern scientific bases of the above mentioned speciality, at par of be constituting as the pediatricians' principal forming center of the country. The purpose of this article is to announce, in succinct form, the principal facts that happened around the foundation of the Institute.
