Las Infecciones de Transmisión Sexual (ITS) representan un problema grave que es común en todo el mundo, entre las más conocidas tenemos a la gonorrea, la sífilis y la infección por el VIH (el virus que causa el SIDA), pero existen más de 25 tipos. Si bien es cierto que la mayoría de éstas se pueden curar con un tratamiento eficaz, continúa siendo una cuestión prioritaria en la salud pública su prevención con el fin de evitar la diseminación de las ITS y el VIH en más personas. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo general determinar la efectividad del programa educativo "TÚ PREVIHENES" en el nivel de conocimientos sobre prevención de ITS y VIH/SIDA en estudiantes de la Institución Educativa Herman Busse De la Guerra-2011. El estudio es de nivel aplicativo, tipo cuantitativo, método cuasi experimental. La población estuvo constituida por 176 estudiantes. La técnica que se utilizó fue la encuesta, y como instrumento el cuestionario. Los resultados fueron que de 176 estudiantes (100 por ciento); antes de la aplicación del programa educativo "TÚ PREVIHENES", 101 estudiantes (57,4 por ciento) tenían un nivel bajo de conocimientos y después de aplicado el programa 138 estudiantes (78,4 por ciento) presentaron un nivel de conocimientos alto. The Infections Transmitted by Sex (STI) represent a serious problem, that is comrnon throughout the world, among the best known to have gonorrhea, syphilis and HIV (the virus that causes AIDS), but there are more than 25 types. While most of these can be cured with effective treatment, remains a priority in public health prevention in order to prevent the spread of STls and HIV in most people. This research had as a general target to determine the effectiveness of the educational program ''TU PREVIHENES" on the knowledge level about prevention of STls and HIV/AIDS in the students of the Educational Institution Herman Busse De la Guerra in 2011. The research is quantitative and quasi experimentally method. The population was constituted by 176 students. The technique that was used was the survey, and as instrument the questionnaire. The results were than of 176 students (100 per cent); before the application of the educational program "TU PREVIHENES", 101 students (57,4 per cent) had a low level knowledge and after applied the program 138 students (78,4 per cent) presented a high level knowledge. For this reason the raised hypothesis of the research is accepted
