Nivel de conocimientos y conducta materna sobre el manejo de la diarrea en el hogar en niños menores de 5 años que son atendidos en el Servicio de URO en el Instituto Nacional de Salud del Niño en el año 2010

Objetivos:

Identificar el nivel de conocimientos y conductas maternas sobre el manejo de diarrea aguda en niños menores de 5 años, del Instituto Nacional de Salud del Niño, que permita la creación de nuevas estrategias respecto al manejo de esta entidad en el hogar.

Métodos:

Estudio descriptivo-prospectivo, se encuestaron 329 madres durante los meses de Octubre y Noviembre del año 2010.

Resultados:

Se obtuvo que un 35 por ciento tienen conocimiento sobre el significado de diarrea, 65 no tiene conocimiento. Sobre el manejo de la diarrea, el 31.3 por ciento tenía conocimiento, mientras un 68.7 que desconocía el manejo.

Conclusiones:

la mayoría de madres, tuvo un conocimiento bajo sobre la diarrea, manejo y tratamiento de esta. Debido a que la información que recibieron estas madres no llegó a ellas de manera adecuada o es ineficiente. Se debe poner énfasis respecto a la conducta y el manejo de la diarrea por parte de las madres, y así se contribuya a reducir las complicaciones que acarrean este cuadro, previniendo de este modo la mortalidad infantil en nuestro país

Objetives:

To identify the level of knowledge and maternal behavior on the management of acute diarrhea in children under 5 years, of the Instituto Nacional de Salud del Niño, allowing the creation of new strategies regarding the management of this entity at home.

Methods:

prospective descriptive study, 329 mothers 143 patients were surveyed during the months of October and November 2010.

Results:

Of all mothers surveyed, we found that 35 per cent have knowledge, compared with 68.7 per cent who unknow the management of diarrhea.

Conclusions:

That most mothers nave a low knowledge about what diarrhea means, management and treatment of this. Because of the information that these mothers received do not get them properly or is inefficient. Greater emphasis should be placed on the conduct and management of diarrhea by their mothers, so in this way could helps to reduce complications, preventing there by the infant mortality in our country
