Actitud del enfermero (a) hacia el proceso de la muerte de sus pacientes en el Servicio de Emergencia de Adultos del Hospital Nacional Edgardo Rebagliati Martins - 2011

Los objetivos fueron:

determinar la dirección e intensidad de la actitud del enfermero(a) hacia el proceso de la muerte de sus pacientes, e identificar la diferenciación de la actitud del enfermero(a) hacia el proceso de la muerte de sus pacientes en la dimensión del cuidado antes y después de la muerte. Material y Método; el estudio fue de nivel aplicativo, tipo cuantitativo, método descriptivo de corte transversal. La población estuvo conformada por todas las enfermeras(os) que laboran en el servicio de Emergencia de Adultos y la muestra estuvo conformada por 39 enfermeras. La técnica fue la encuesta y el instrumento una escala modificada tipo Lickert. Resultados; en cuanto a la dirección de la actitud del enfermero(a) hacia el proceso de la muerte de sus pacientes del 100 por ciento (39), 61.5 por ciento (24) tienen una actitud de indiferencia, 20.5 por ciento (8) aceptación y 18 por ciento (7) rechazo; acerca de la intensidad de la actitud 48.2 por ciento (19) tienen una intensidad moderada, 47.1 por ciento (18) fuerte, y 4.7 por ciento (2) débil; y la diferenciación de la actitud del enfermero(a) hacia el proceso de la muerte de sus pacientes, 74.4 por ciento (29) tienen una actitud de indiferencia en la dimensión del cuidado antes de la muerte, 59 por ciento (23) después de la muerte; 28.2 por ciento (11) tienen una actitud de aceptación después de la muerte, 12.8 por ciento (5) una actitud de aceptación antes de la muerte. Conclusiones; un porcentaje considerable de enfermeros(as) tiene una actitud que esta direccionado a la indiferencia referido a que brinda orientación al paciente y familia sobre su estado de salud, expresa que la atención al paciente moribundo demanda mucho tiempo, acompaña al médico a dar la noticia a la familia sobre el fallecimiento del paciente, evita tener contacto con la familia del paciente fallecido; un menor porcentaje significativo tiene una actitud de aceptación; y un minino porcentaje tiene una actitud de rechazo.

The objectives were to determine the direction and intensity of the attitude of the nurse to process the death of their patients, and identify the differentiation of the attitude of the nurse to the process of death for patients in the dimension of care before and after death.

Material and Method:

The study was application-Ievel, quantitative, cross sectional method. The population consisted of all nurses working in the Adult Emergency Service and the sample consisted of 39 nurses. The technique was the survey instrument and the Lickert scale. Results, in terms of the direction of the attitude of the nurse (a) to the process of their patients died of 100 per cent (39), 61.5 per cent (24) have an attitude of indifference, 20.5 per cent (8) acceptance and 18 per cent (7) rejection, about the intensity of the attitude 48.2 per cent (19) have a moderate intensity, 47.1 per cent (18) strong, and 4.7 per cent (2) weak, and differentiation of the attitude of the nurse to the process of the death of their patients, 74.4 per cent (29) have an attitude of indifference in the dimension of care before death, 59 per cent (23) after death, 28.2 per cent (11) have an attitude of acceptance after of death, 12.8 per cent (5) an attitude of acceptance before death. Conclusions, a considerable percentage of nurses (as) has an attitude that is directed to the indifference referred to provides guidance to the patient and family about your health, says that the dying patient care is time consuming, accompanies the doctor to give the news to the family on the death of the patient, avoids contact with the family of the deceased patient, a significantly smaller percentage has an attitude of acceptance, and a pussycat percentage have a negative attitude.
