The thesis presents an in –depth theoretically informed empirical analysis of the efforts to introduce computer-based health information systems in disadvantaged health districts of Mozambique ,Situated Within the umbrella of the Health information Systems program (HISP) action research framework, the research reported in this thesis reflects upon the experiences of working the micro –level of the health facilities, and the macro-level of the national level ,and also in various other province and district offices.
The four research questions guiding this study are.(i)what are the characteristics of a counter network in relation to the primary Health Care (PHC) sector of a disadvantaged remote area ,for area for example in Mozambique?. (ii) what are the characteristics of the communication practices within and between different levels of the health structure-how are they constituted, expressed and shaped?
